| Highly Skilled Migrants |

Not only can a migrant seeking employment in the Netherlands obtain legal stay based on the residence permit for employee's, he or she can also be granted residence as a so called "Highly Skilled Migrant". For the definition of the term "Highly Skilled Migrant" the Immigration Service makes use of a simple en objective salary criteria.
To be considered as a Highly Skilled Migrant the applicant is required to earn an annual salary of at least € 50.183 if he or she is over 30 years of age. If the applicant is under 30 the required annual salary is € 36.80.
For persons who have recently graduated, who have completed their studies here in the Netherlands and who start working within one year after graduation can be granted a residence permit as a Highly Skilled Migrant, if they earn an annual salary of at least € 26.376. Recently graduated student can extend their stay here after the completion of their studies for up to one year in order to find suitable work. The student must request for this “search-year” at the IND.
Persons who meet the salary criteria or who can be qualified as post-doctorates under 30 years of age, PhD students and university teachers can be allowed residence as a Highly Skilled Migrant under the condition that their employer has been accepted into the "Highly Skilled Migrant" program of the Immigration Service. For this the employer has to fill in a registration form and send proof of registration in the Dutch Chambers of Commerce and statement from the Dutch tax department of good payment conduct.
Students who have graduated from one of the Colleges or Universities here in the Netherlands are granted a period of three months to find work and to meet the Highly Skilled Migrants criteria.
With the Highly Skilled Migrant program an employer is offered the advantage of hiring non EU citizens without having first to apply for a working permit.
