If the reason for your stay changes, you must submit a request to change your purpose of stay. For instance in the following cases:
- If your relationship het ended or you divorce;
- If you are staying in the Netherlands as a labor migrant, and you change your job;
- If you want to stay with another person;
Temporary humanitarian grounds
There are different categories for a residence permit on the basis of temporary humanitarian grounds:
- honor-related and domestic violence
- victims of trafficking who are not able or willing to work with the criminal
- pending the adoption of Dutch citizenship
Continued residence and non-temporary humanitarian grounds
There are several categories for continued residence permit and under non-temporary humanitarian grounds:
- You have a residence permit and want to continue residence after staying with a family member;
- You have a residence permit and want to continue residence due to urgent humanitarian reasons after staying with a family member;
- You have a residence permit and to want continue residence after death of family member;
- You have a residence permit and want to continue residence after domestic and honor-related violence;
- You have a residence permit because you are a victim of human trafficking and you wish to continue to your stay;
- You have previously stayed in the Netherlands and wish return to the Netherlands, or you are a former Dutch national;
- You want excersise your right to private life under Article 8 of the ECHR;
- You want to stay under the scheme long-term resident children (Children’s Pardon);
- You want to stay under other humanitarian reasons.
