Persons residing illegally in the Netherlands can be placed in detention. Temporary custody lasts up to six months but can be extended under certain conditions for a further twelve months (so eightteen months in total).
The purpose of detention is to return the illegal alien to the country of origin or to a country where the alien is allowed to stay as soon as possible. Those persons for whom it has been established that they can not be deported within a reasonable time may not be placed in detention.
The decision to put someone in custody should always be tested within 28 days by the court. Altattorneys can help you with filing and waging an appeal against the detention.
Also in continuation of the detention Altattorneys can assist you in filing and waging appeals to have the detention lifted after the initial review.
